Hello Reader!

My name is Julie (Dr. Julie, Dr. Brown, or whichever else you prefer). I’m a licensed clinical psychologist, invested in helping people of all backgrounds become agents of wellness in their own lives. As humans, we get to carve the path forward by stepping fully into our experiences and the choices that arise along the way.

Stressful experiences impact our mental and physical wellbeing, often creating belief systems that become core to who we are. As a result, our sense of self is deeply influenced by our experiences, and as humans, we often seek comfort in different ways— some helpful and some not. For some, becoming grounded and creating a home internally may require first understanding their own thoughts and feelings with more clarity. For others, more focused behavior changes may be required first. So whether you’re seeking a space to sort through confusing thoughts and feelings or a more structured approach to major life change, I’ve got you covered.

Regardless of the specific goals you bring to therapy, my underlying aim is to help you fortify your sense of self, as you further become the person you want to be. In addition to general training in symptom management, I’ve sought specialty training in the areas of trauma & recovery, adaptive coping, and relational wellness. My training background includes CBT-Based Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), narrative therapy, and specific trauma reprocessing therapies, such as EMDR, Brainspotting, and Havening™. To further support my work, I’ve also received advanced behavioral training in the areas of compulsivity, substance & multiple addictions, issues of sexual health, and disordered eating. I believe relational health and mindful living are essential parts of wellness for everyone, and I am equipped to work with a full range of barriers to holistic thriving.

Beyond initial symptom relief, I aim to empower individuals to generate awareness of their physical bodies, defining and enacting their own healthy boundaries from a rooted place. In all of my work, I use a relational, collaborative approach to provide personalized care according to each person’s particular life and context, standing as an ally and advocate for members of all marginalized communities.

If you’d like some more specifics, I received my Doctorate of Clinical Psychology (PsyD) from Fuller Graduate School of Psychology, following completion of an APA-accredited doctoral residency at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I am also a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT), qualified to assist folks entering recovery and/or their traumatized partners in reconstructing emotional and sexual safety after betrayal. Additionally, I obtained a Masters of Theology (MAT) from Fuller Theological Seminary, which has informed my quest to make meaning of the human experience. This path of study also supports my clinical treatment of individuals recovering from spiritual/ religious trauma and abuse and lends me language as I assist those who might be exploring or deconstructing the faith system in which they were raised. These varied avenues of study have equipped me to take a reflective stance on empowered, holistic personhood and the many ways that wellness can be defined in a modern world.

Feel free to look around– you can learn more about my specialties and services, and get in touch today to schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation. I’d love to write the next pages with you, as you weave your story and find your words.

“Align is a therapy space built to help people orient their current circumstances toward the version of themselves they want to become.”
